Coniston Launch - lake cruises and group charters on Coniston Water in the Lake District

Coniston Launch invites you to cruise aboard our launches powered by solar panels and low pollution electric motors that provide an environmentally way to expereince the lake. The northern route lasts for 50 minutes and passes ' Bluebird's base and Holly Howe of 'Swallow and Amazons' fame. A popular destination on the northern cruise is Brantwood House, home of the Victorian artist, thinker and writer John Ruskin. A discounted combination ticket is available on-board that allows you to cruise across to Brantwood, visit the house and gardens and return to Coniston later on the launch. Brantwood has a cafe and gallery to explore as well as an exhibition room that changes throughout the seasons. If you would like a low level walk suitable for children take the launch to Torver and walk along the level path to Coniston (suitable for pushchairs).

The southern route is a 105 minute cruise and travels to the very bottom of the lake passing 'Wild Cat Island' and other locations where Arthur Ransome stayed whilst writing his novels. There are many 'Swallow and Amazon' enthusiasts who take this trip to see all the sites linked to Ransome. We also offer a special cruise on Wednesday lunchtime which has a full commentary about Ransome, his life and his works. Lake Bank and Sunny Bank are very popular for walkers to disembark and walk back up to Coniston.

The other special cruise we offer is the 'Campbell on Consiton' cruise which is an hour and half cruise exploring the story of Donald Campbell's world speed records and his final journey on the lake trying to break the 300 mph speed record.

Facilities at our main jetty include parking, toilets and the Bluebird cafe which offers excellent food and a fantastic view of the lake.

We hope to welcome you on-board soon.
